Jayne Wallace
In Jayne Wallace's research, to what extent does technology have the potential to effect the meaning/perception of the object ?...............discuss
Jayne Wallace blurs the boundaries between electronic gadgetry, craft processes and higher art. This creates some confusion as to the role of the objects. Are they purely to be seen as 'art' objects, as functionless as they are aesthetic or can they realistically become marketable albeit bespoke products? The objects are explorations of very personal aspects of their intended owners and by the communication made possible with these strange objects highlight the impersonal nature of our contemporary relationship with electronic objects.
having said all that, they are seemingly at a very early stage of development and the fact that the work does not have a solid purpose is slightly irritating.
